7 mountaineers rescued in Mt. Apo

SEVEN mountain climbers were rescued after they were trapped Monday noon at Mt. Apo National Park in Kidapawan City, the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
The NDRRMC said the mountain climbers were trapped at Marbel river while descending from Lake Vendao camp site through Kidapawan trail at Mt. Apo National Park, Kidapawan City in North Cotabato province.
The mountaineers were identified as Maripaz V. Llagas, 30, of Barangay Hugo Perez Trece Martirez, Cavite; Paulyn A. Mejia, 21, of Binondo, Manila; Jonalyn B. Vega, 28, of General Trias, Cavite; April G. Lim, 28, of Imus, Cavite; Mark Robben B. Garcia, 25, Imus, Cavite; Maria Jumilene S. Roxas, 25, Makati City; and Arnel Aragon, 30, of Mt. Apo Village, Kidapawan City.
The climbers were rescued around 5:30 p.m. by the Kidapawan City Emergency Response Unit after they called for help from the City from the City Investment Office because of lack of food supply.
As of 8:49 p.m. the climbers were transported safely to the City Investment Office.
No casualties were reported in the incident, the NDRRMC said. (Sunnex)
