CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija -- The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) in Central Luzon has tapped the services of broadcast facilities in the region in its intensified campaign against text scam.
NTC Regional Director Azor L. Sitchon said all cable providers, television and radio stations were requested to help in the dissemination of information to minimize, if not eliminate, text scams in their respective jurisdiction.
Sitchon said the intensified campaign against text scam was in connection with an order from Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr., dated September 12, 2012.
He said the memorandum pertains to the implementation and enforcement of the various NTC circulars and orders on text spam.
The NTC Region 3, in a statement, advised the public not to fall victim of text messages which say that the recipient has won a huge amount, asking for load or any other favor.
The agency further advised the public to report to its offices such texts.
The recipient should immediately bring the receiving unit (mobile phone) where the text scam is saved or have the message taken, he said.
The complainant will also have to state his or her address, telephone number and sign the information.
This process, according to the NTC, is needed to protect other people not engaged in text scam from having their mobile phone numbers blocked. (PNA)
