13 killed in Ilocos road mishap

MANILA -- Thirteen persons, mostly high school students, were killed in a collision between a passenger jeepney and a truck in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, police said Tuesday.
Regional police spokesman Superintendent Jovencio Suriben Badua Jr. said most of the fatalities are high school students.
Jeepney driver Ferdinand dela Cruz was among the fatalities.
Badua said the jeep collided with the truck while overtaking another vehicle around 7:30 a.m. in Barangay 8.
The truck's driver, Vencio Butac, surrendered after the incident.
One injured victim identified as Joshua Bolibol, 12, is still confined at a hospital.
The regional police office ordered the Ilocos Norte Police to conduct an in-depth investigation on the fatal accident to give justice to the bereaved family of the victims, said Badua. (VR/Sunnex)
