MANILA -- Five suspects allegedly belonging to an infamous gang, which has been involved in many bank robberies, were arrested by authorities, a police official said Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Mario Dela Vega, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said the suspects arrested on Monday are reportedly members of the notorious Ozamis robbery gang.
The five suspects, three of whom are male, were identified as Carlo Sanchez, 23; Michael Dompor, 27; Roger Gallego, 28; Riza Singson, 29; and Angie Antonio, 18. All of them originally hail from outside Metro Manila.
According to the police report, patrolling cops from the Police Station 7 in Cubao accosted at a checkpoint on Ermin Garcia corner Harvard Street two of the suspects riding tandem on a motorcycle without license plates.
The suspects fled to an apartment located in the same area but were chased by the police, who found the three other alleged gang members inside the apartment.
Confiscated from the suspects were four firearms including a machine pistol and several ammunition.
The suspects were turned over to the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal where investigation is on-going and proper charges are being prepared.
