5.3 quake jolts Mindoro, some areas in Metro Manila

MANILA -- A magnitude 5.3 earthquake rocked some areas in Occidental Mindoro on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter was traced 13.11°N, 120.24°E - 41 km S 72° W of Mamburao, the capital municipality of Occidental Mindoro.
The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at 9:55 a.m. It has a depth of 15 kilometers.
Phivolcs said that Intensity 4 was felt in Batangas City; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; while Intensity 3 in Pasay City; Intensity 2 in Quezon City and Malabon City; and Intensity 1 in Tagaytay City.
The agency noted there was no initial report of damage from this tremor but aftershocks are expected. (PNA)
