MANILA -- A public school teacher in Nueva Vizcaya is now in hot water after he was recently caught red-handed selling illegal drugs, a police official said.
Police Regional Office – Cagayan Valley Director Rodrigo De Gracia identified the suspect as Giovanni Adzuara, 40, a teacher of Abinganan Elementary School.
De Gracia said the teacher was arrested on September 30 in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Bambang police station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Cagayan Valley.
Confiscated from Adzuara's possession was a plastic sachet containing about four grams of shabu and the marked money used in the operation.
Adzuara is currently under the custody of the Bambang police station.
De Gracia urged parents to attend to their children's needs in order for them not to seek the temporary comfort brought by illegal drugs.
"Illegal drugs are everywhere. We can no longer entrust our youth even to their supposed surrogate parents. This must serve as an eye-opener to everyone," De Gracia said. (Emmanuel Louis Bacani/Sunnex)
