MANILA –- There was no Filipino national among the victims of the boat collision accident, which happened recently off Lamma Island in Hong Kong, the Philippine labor department said Tuesday.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz issued the statement after receiving a report from Labor Attaché Manuel Roldan of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Hong Kong.

Quoting Roldan, the Labor chief said that Hong Kong police have not identified any Filipino national from among the victims of the accident.

The tragedy involving the collision between the boat, Lamma IV, and a ferry operated by the Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry, left 36 persons dead and more than 90 people hospitalized.

The collision accident, which happened during the celebration of Hong Kong National Day, was considered the worst accident in Hong Kong in over four decades. (SDR/Sunnex)
