MANILA -- The Sandiganbayan on Thursday morning ordered the lawyers of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to "substantiate" their motion for hospital arrest by presenting Arroyo's doctors from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).
Arroyo's doctors were summoned to testify before the court's First Division on October 18.
The court earlier ordered Arroyo's arrest over the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds while she was president.
She has been confined at the government hospital last week for "generalized body weakness", dehydration and numbness.
Arroyo had previously been allowed by a Pasay City court to be placed under hospital arrest from December 2011 to July this year on charges of electoral sabotage. Her petition for bail was granted by the court in July.
Arroyo and her co-accused in the plunder suit are set to be arraigned before the Sandiganbayan on October 15, 8:30 a.m. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
