3 senatorial aspirants disqualifed

MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified on Friday three senatorial aspirants for being underage or for not attaining 35 years of age on the day of May 13, 2013 elections.

Meanwhile, the Comelec will summon 43 Independent Candidates to a hearing on October 18 and 13 others nominated by their respective parties on October 19 to determine the sufficiency or legitimacy of their Certificates of Candidacy and/or hear them to contradict the presumption of being nuisance candidates for the senatorial posts in the upcoming national and local elections.

In the corrected version of Resolution 9540 promulgated by the Commission En Banc, those disqualified for reasons of age are: Remelyn T. Ajel, Independent Candidate, born on January 31, 1981, who will be 32 years old on May 13, 2013; Francis Leo A. Marcos, Independent Candidate, born on September 29, 1979, who will be 33 years old on May 13, 2013; and Johnny Chris H. Sy, Independent Candidate, born on January 14, 1981, who will be 32 on May 13, 2013.
