ATHENS -- A Greek-owned vessel was set free off Oman's coasts by Somali pirates who had seized it eight months ago, local media reported on Friday.

All of the 21 Filipino crew members of Liberian-flagged "Free Goddess" are said to be in good health, while the shipping company paid over 5 million dollars in ransom to the pirates, Greek national news agency AMNA cited unconfirmed information as saying.

The vessel was attacked while sailing from Egypt to Singapore, carrying steel, in an area which has been plagued by piracy attacks in recent years.

Earlier this week another Greek ship was released off western Africa a few days after local pirates seized it and stole its cargo - 32,000 metric tons of fuel. (PNA/Xinhua)
