Cebu City preparing for Calungsod canonization-A A +A

CEBU CITY -- Devotees are coming in at the Blessed Pedro Calungsod Shrine in this city days before the canonization rites which is set on October 21, 2012, Sunday at the Vatican, Rome.
Seen in the said shrine is the saint's image while a stone, that came from Tumhon, Guam where Calungsod was allegedly killed, is placed under his feet, reports said.
Around 6:30 p.m. today, Monday, a mass, rosary and novena prayer will be held for the soon-to-be second saint in the Philippines.
On October 16, Tuesday, the three-foot official image of the Filipino martyr, which will be accompanied by official custodian, Father Charles Jayme, will be brought to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and will be flown to Rome, Italy on board Cathay Pacific, according to reports.
Meanwhile, the template of Calungsod's shrine at the South Road Properties (SRP) is already rushed before the national thanksgiving mass on November 21.
Expected to witness the canonization rites are the devotees of Blessed Pedro and the Mandaue Children and Youth Chorus, who will sing during the said occassion. (Sunnex)
