PPA to bid construction of berthing facilities in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY -- The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will subject to bidding the construction of berthing facilities at the Iloilo River Wharf in Barangay Progreso, Lapuz district this coming October 29.

With a P126 million approved budget for the contract (ABC), the project scope of works include the retaining walls, rockworks, backfill of berthing area/apron, fendering and mooring system, provision of platform and roro ramp.

The construction of the berthing facilities is one of the three projects identified in line with the transfer of the fast craft terminal from its original site along Muelle Loney to Barangay Progreso, Lapuz. It will also accommodate roll on – roll off (roro) vessels.

During Friday’s regular meeting of the Iloilo-Batiano River Development Council, PPA report disclosed that the construction of the P17.31 million passenger terminal building with a floor area of 1, 000 square meters was bid out last September 27 and its district office in Cebu is preparing to serve the notice of award.

The P20 million site development project on the other hand is about to be advertised. The scope of works covers the development of parking, provision of paving blocks, main gate and fencing.

The transfer of the fast craft terminal is one of the projects identified in line with the ongoing rehabilitation of the Iloilo River under the administration of mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and fully supported by Congressman Jerry P. Treñas and Senator Franklin M. Drilon. (PNA)
