MANILA -- A female Thai national suspected to be a drug mule was intercepted by authorities on Saturday after several kilos of shabu were discovered in her luggage.
In an incident report, the Customs and Investigation and Intelligence Service (CIIS) identified the alleged drug mule as Napaporn Khamsa who was caught at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal (NAIA) 1.
The CIIS added that authorities discovered 7.5 kilograms of shabu hidden in the luggage of the suspected drug courier, who originated from Turkey and transited to Ghana and then Dubai.
She arrived on board Emirates Airlines EK332 from Dubai around 4:15 p.m. Saturday. Her possible entry to the country was tipped off by American authorities to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
A joint operation was requested to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to intercept the Thai national.
The alleged drug mule is suspected to be part of the West African Drug Syndicate, whose new modus operandi uses Southeast Asian nationals as drug mules.
