CEBU CITY -- Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal had “hypoglycemic episode” Monday morning (Vatican time) while celebrating a Mass in Rome, Italy, television reports said.
The Mass, however, went smoothly that churchgoers did not notice Vidal’s condition. The Archbishop Emeritus reportedly complained of dizziness and loss of balance after celebrating the Mass. Doctors found out that his blood sugar level was too low.
Vidal’s blood sugar level, however, went back to normal after he was given treatment.
Vidal, 81, was one of the concelebrants in Sunday’s canonization of Visayan teen martyr Pedro Calungsod. He flew to Vatican from Cebu last October 14 to attend the triduum masses and other activities in Rome, Italy.
It was him who opened the cause for sainthood of Calungsod two decades ago. (Sunnex)
