Dentists group to file charges vs unlicensed dental technicians

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Dentists will file charges against unlicensed dental technicians in North Cotabato, said an official of the local chapter of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA).
Dr. Fe Ruizo, chapter chair of the PDA in Kidapawan City, said PDA will file charges against Gavino "Dodong" Concepcion, owner of the Concepcion Dental Laboratory.
Ruizo said Concepcion has no professional identification card and is not a holder of a valid certificate of registration. Concepcion was arrested Friday.
She added that Concepcion often make artificial denture and other oral devices without the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Ruizo said PDA notified the Concepcion Dental Laboratory of its violations twice. Concepcion even signed a Commitment Undertaking in January.
PDA found out that a number of dental technicians are operating in several towns in North Cotabato.
“We already informed the PNP about these illegal dental practices or activities. In due time, these dental technicians would be arrested,” Ruizo said. (PNA)
