DAGUPAN CITY -- A search and rescue operation for a nine-year old boy who was reported missing since late Saturday afternoon while swimming at Tondaligan Beach here is still continuing, the police said.
Still subject of search is Sober Macayao of Barangay Bacayao here, who was swimming with a group of youngsters when he was swept by a big wave and brought to the deeper portion of the sea.
A report said the boy was playing with a ball he also used as a floater when the big wave came, separating him from the ball he was clinging on.
The boy allegedly called for help from his cousins who were swimming with him but later sank.
Relatives of the boy reported the mater to the adjacent police precinct which organized a search and rescue team, composed of policemen, fishermen and local residents but went home empty handed Saturday night.
The search and rescue operation continued the next day and expanded up to the vicinity of Lingayen and San Fabian towns but the boy could not yet be found.
It was reported that policemen and fishermen on board motor boats also sailed toward the Lingayen Gulf Monday morning in the hope of finding the boy. (PNA)
