MANILA -- Anti-narcotics agents have collared a radio commentator after he was allegedly caught selling shabu, an official said Thursday.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Arturo Cacdac, Jr. said the suspected pusher identified as Felicito Lazaro, 62, alias Lito, was arrested by operatives of PDEA, after he was caught selling shabu to a poseur-buyer in Sorsogon.
Lazaro works as a radio commentator and resident of Bagong Silang, Masbate City.
On October 23, 2012, an undercover agent of PDEA entered into a transaction with Lazaro. The transaction took place in Barangay Binanuahan, Pilar, Sorsogon. Upon the pre-arranged signal, members of the operating team arrested Lazaro, who yielded one big-sized plastic sachet containing shabu weighing 4.5 grams.
"Lazaro has been under surveillance by PDEA for quite some time because he is one of the major drug suppliers of shabu in the area. His arrest dealt a crippling blow to the local drug industry in the provinces of Masbate and Sorsogon," Cacdac said.
Lazaro is now facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is presently detained at the PDEA RO5 jail facility in Legazpi City. (SDR/Sunnex)
