BAGUIO CITY -- The big time oil price rollback implemented on Monday benefited more than 32,000 public utility motorists serving commuters of this city and the provinces of Benguet and La Union.
Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) public transport coordinator Junie Itliong, also the president of the Federation of Jeepney and Taxi Drivers and Operators of Baguio, Benguet and La Union (Fejodablu), said "this is the biggest rollback we experienced in years".
The public utility vehicles in the area are composed of more than 25,000 units of jeepneys and more than 7,000 taxi units.
Price of diesel, which is used by at least 90 percent of public utility vehicles (PUVs), has decreased by P1.30 a liter.
Itliong said the rollback is timely as many people are now in constant movement in view of the forthcoming holidays -All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2.
He said the price of premium gasoline used mostly by private motorists is now lower by P2.15 a liter.
"We in the public transport sector are thankful for this rollback. And I know that this is shared by the private motorists, many of whom also use diesel as fuel," he said.
It was learned that the decrease of the price of fossil-based fuel in the country was due to the movement of the prices in the world market. (PNA)
