Death sentence for Filipino drug carrier

HANOI, Vietnam -- Hanoi People's Court Wednesday sentenced a Filipino woman to death for transporting the illegal party drug "ice" (crystal methephetamine) into Vietnam.
Amodia Teresita Palaco, 61, was arrested Saturday when police found 5.4 kilograms of the drug in her luggage as she passed through Noi Bai International airport.
Evidence was given in court that Palaco was hired by another Filipino to transport the drug to Vietnam.
Statistics from the City Office for Immigration Management revealed the woman entered Vietnam eight times through Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Noi Bai Airport.
Vietnam law said anyone found guilty of illegally carrying drugs from 300g upward faces 20 years to life in jail – or the death sentence. (PNA)
