SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela -- Two motorcycle-riding men suspected to be arsonists tried to burn the house of a vice mayoralty candidate on Sunday, police reported Tuesday.

The back rider reportedly lobbed a Molotov bomb inside the compound of Dr. Paul De Jesus along Arellano street in Barangay Dubinan East.

De Jesus is an incumbent city councilor and a vice mayoralty candidate

Volunteers were able to put off the fire before it could engulf the house.

De Jesus and his family members were out when the incident happened.

Police are eying politics as the motive behind the incident. (PNA/Sunnex)
