SOME 22 Filipinos from the strife-torn Syria are expected to arrive on Tuesday in Manila, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

The Filipinos from the northwestern Syrian city of Aleppo will be the first batch of repatriates for this year.

The repatriates traveled by land to Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport where they took Qatar Airways flight QR 423 to Doha and then flight QR 644 to Manila.

Their arrival will bring the total number of repatriates to 3,310.

The DFA urged Filipinos who are still in Syria to immediately avail of the mandatory repatriation program as the security situation in the country continues to deteriorate. (SDR/Sunnex)
