Quakes hit parts of Mindoro

THREE mild earthquakes hit various parts of Mindoro Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Seismologists said the tremor that hit 46 kilometers northeast of Calintaan Occidental Mindoro at 4:53 a.m. had a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale.
Southeast of Calintaan was also hit by a magnitude 2.0 tremor at 6:29 a.m.
At 5:59 a.m., a 3.1-magnitude quake was also recorded 4 kilometers northwest of Mansalay Oriental Mindoro.
Phivolcs added that the earthquakes were tectonic in origin.
However, Phivolcs said that there were no damages in lives and infrastructure and no expected aftershocks. (Nera Mariz Puyo, USJR MassCom Intern/Sunnex)
