THE man responsible for firing a .45 caliber pistol on New Year's Eve that killed seven-year-old stray bullet victim Stephanie Joy Ella has been identified, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said.
De Lima said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was able to secure an eye witness who can pinpoint the shooter. However, De Lima declined to name him.
“I was asking if I can share that with media na, huwag na muna daw...may tinutukoy na, kino-confirm lang,” De Lima said.
The NBI is now monitoring the suspect. Once established, he can be arrested and will face charges filed against him. De Lima added that the possible shooter must undergo due process.
On New Year’s Eve, Stephanie Nicole Ella was watching fireworks outside their house in Caloocan City when she was hit on the head by a stray bullet fired from a .45 caliber pistol around 50 meters away from her.
She was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City but died the next day after slipping into deep comatose due to the injury. (Sunnex with wire reports)
