3,620 families affected in Mindanao due to 'Bising'

MANILA -- More than 3,000 families or 13, 200 people in Mindanao were affected by the rains brought by tropical depression ‘Bising’, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
NDRRMC said Saturday some 3,620 families or 13,222 people were affected in 57 villages in two cities and seven towns in seven provinces of Region 11 (Davao Region), Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos City) and Caraga region.
Of these, 1,880 families or 7,565 people were being served in 25 evacuation centers
The NDRRMC also said the Pagmam-an Bridge in Barangay San Jose in Bislig is not passable due to heavy rain.
NDRRMC added that the trips bound for Mangagoy, Bislig were rerouted to San Francisco in Agusan del Sur.
As of Saturday, the NDRRMC said Bising caused P1.5 million in damage to Nurcia Integrated School Science Laboratory in Lanuza town in Surigao del Sur.
No casualties were reported from the weather disturbance.
The NDRRMC said it remains on red alert and is continuously monitoring and disseminating weather advisories to concerned areas. (PNA)
