CEBU City will be the first locality to install microchips in dogs for animal identification and information.
Dr. Alice Utlang, chief of the Cebu City Government’s Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF), said in a press conference Friday that microchips will be implanted upon dog registration.
She said they will advocate birth control not just for dogs but also for cats this year.
The DVMF is also set to strictly implement dog vaccination and registration through issuing citation tickets and taking legal actions in court against anyone who fails to comply.
Utlang said they have started to conduct massive weekly vaccination in mountain areas all over the city.
Trainings on proper catching of dogs are also administered for local government units. (Nera Mariz Puyo-USJR MassCom Intern/Sunnex)
