MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III will embark on a four-day trip to Switzerland next week to join the other world leaders in the World Economic Forum (WEF), Malacanang said Saturday.
In an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that Aquino's trip to Davos on January 23 to 27 will be his first foreign trip this year.
"President Aquino will have the opportunity to meet and to discuss issues with global business leaders as part of our continuing pitch that the Philippines is under new management and that we are open for business," she said.
She said that the Chief Executive will also give a keynote speech at the Partnership Against Corruption event where he will share the Philippine experience in battling corruption.
Aquino will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Budget Secretary Florencio Abad, Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, and Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office Secretary Ricky Carandang.
Valte said she has no information yet if the President will be holding any bilateral meeting with other world leaders.
Before returning to Manila, Aquino will meet with the Filipino community in Zurich, she added. (SDR/Sunnex)
