331 people in Davao del Norte evacuated due to flashfloods –NDRRMC

MANILA -- More than 300 people were evacuated to safer grounds in six barangays (village) in Davao Del Norte due to flashfloods brought by the tail-end of a cold front, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.
NDRRMC said the flashflood occurred at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Barangays Maniki, Pag-asa, Sampao, Sua-on, Semong and Mamacao which affected 90 families or 331people, who were brought to six evacuation centers.
NDRRMC added that Florida Road in Purok 1 to Barangay Proper was not passable to light vehicles as of 6 p.m. Saturday.
The NDRRMC said the Office of Civil Defense Region 11 is monitoring the water level at Libuganon River and contributory rivers.
Kapalong rescue and emergency services remained on standby and are ready for deployment, the disaster agency added.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said that the tail-end of a cold front continues to affect Mindanao as it experiences light to moderate rainshowers. (PNA)
