CEBU CITY -- Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma urged the Catholic faithful to intensify their prayers during the Pontifical Mass early Sunday at the Basilica del Sto. Niño.

He also reiterated the value of the thanksgiving prayer.

"In the year of faith, matud pa sa atong Santo Papa, angay natong pamalandungan ang daghang Diyosnong bahandi nga gihatag sa Ginoo. (In the year of faith, according to Pope Benedict XVI's, we should reflect on the works of God.)," he said in Cebuano dialect.

"Ang unang angay natong buhaton, magpasalamat sa Diyos. Prayer of thanksgiving. Prayer of praising. Prayer of adoration. (The first thing that we have to do is to thank the Lord. Prayer of thanksgiving. Prayer of praising. Prayer of adoration.)," he said.

He also added that in the middle of an untoward situation, "makaingun gihapon kita nga life is beautiful. Life is good. (we can say that life is beautiful. Life is good.)"

Also present in Sunday's Pontifical Mass are the San Carlos Seminary College Choir, bishops, nuns, and other religios authorities.

The mass ended around 8 a.m.

Meanwhile, the "Sinulog Grand Parade 2013" is slated today. (Jay Ann Clamohoy/Sunnex)
