2 killed, 40 hurt as bus rams truck

MANILA -- A passenger bus and a truck collided early Friday morning in Sorsogon, instantly killing two people and hurting 40 others.
In a radio report, the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. when the Elavel passenger bus rammed into the truck as it traversed the Maharlika highway in Barangay Rawis Castilla, Sorsogon.
The bus driver identified as Raymundo Lapso Oliva of Catlonga, Camarines Norte, and passenger Johny Frivaldo from Bibingcahan, Sorsogon died on the spot, according to initial investigation.
Other passengers who sustained injuries were immediately rushed to hospitals.
It was also reported that due to the impact of the collision, a child was thrown outside of the bus.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and are identifying the victims, while the bus company is yet to release the official count of the victims.
The bus was coming from Metro Manila en route to Northern Samar when the incident happened. (Sunnex with wire reports)
