Grandmother, grandchild killed in Bantayan

CEBU CITY -- A grandmother and her grandchild were found dead in Sitio Bagong Lipunan, Barangay Kabangbang, Municipality of Bantayan on Monday morning, according to a radio report on Tuesday.
Police Senior Inspector Ildefonso Miranda Jr., head of Bantayan Police Station, said that the bodies were found in their residence around 5:30 a.m. of Monday by their neighbors, said Johnley Bayking in his noontime online program in Bombo Radyo Philippines.
The victims died due to multiple stab wounds in the different parts of their bodies.
The fatalities were identified as 74-year-old grandmother, Patricia Desamparado Batoy, and her nine-year-old grandchild, name withheld.
The suspects arrested were identified as Ruben Desamparado Fabian and Romel Dela Peña, who were about go to Estancia, Negros. The suspects, according to the report, were allegedly theives.
Police recovered from the suspects a diamond jewelry, P4,000 cash, and wallet.
As of this posting, the police are still trying to determine the motive of the said crime. (JAC/Sunnex)
