Alleged NPA leader nabbed in Camarines Norte

MANILA -- Authorities have arrested an alleged communist rebel group leader in Camarines Norte who is reportedly known for leading an attack against government troops in the province last year, the military said Tuesday.
The military identified the arrested rebel leader as Nancy Ortega also known as "Nads" or "Sads" of the New People's Army (NPA).
The ranking communist rebel was nabbed in Iriga City around 8:30 p.m. on Monday by combined elements of the local police and the Philippine Army who served the arrest warrant, the military said.
It added that Ortega is known for allegedly leading an attack on a group of soldiers in Labo town, Camarines Norte, on April 2012, which reportedly killed some soldiers and a civilian. (Emmanuel Louis Bacani/Sunnex)
