MANILA -- Occidental Mindoro Vice Governor Mario Mendiola, the Liberal Party (LP) member who met with an accident while attending a political rally of Team PNoy, is now in stable condition but remains under observation.

Mendiola accidentally fell off the stage while the LP's proclamation rally was ongoing at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo, Manila, Tuesday.

In a text message, the vice governor said he suffered a fractured rib and had a four-centimeter laceration at the back of his head.

"He was transferred to San Juan de Dios where his brother is a doctor. That's all for now but last night he was fine but being observed," Team PNoy campaign spokesperson Miro Quimbo said in a separate text message.
