Magnitude-6.2 quake rocks Sarangani

CEBU – A magnitude-6.2 earthquake jolted Sarangani town in Davao del Sur at 12:47 p.m. of Saturday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its website, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 30 kilometers (km) east of Sarangani, Davao del Sur.
There was no immediate report of damage or injury, Phivolcs said.
Intensity 4 was felt in Mati & Taragona, Davao Oriental while intensity 3 was felt in Davao City.
Intensity 2 was felt in General Santos City, Butuan City, and Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin, according to Phivolcs.
The agency's website said aftershocks are expected from the quake.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs recorded around 2:17 p.m. another 3.4-magnitude earthquake which hit Sarangani town.
The quake's epicenter was located at 101 kilometers (km) east of Sarangani, Davao del Sur. It has a depth of 74 km.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin, according to the country's seismologists.
The Philippines sits in the "Pacific Ring of Fire" where a large number of earthquake and volcanic activity occur. (Sunnex)
