Fire razes 16 houses in Cebu City

CEBU CITY (Updated) -- At least 16 houses were razed when a fire hit a residential area in Sitio Renaissance, Barangay Bulacao, Pardo, Cebu City on Monday afternoon, reports said.
The Cebu City Fire Department received the alarm around 3:38 p.m., according to a radio report.
The city fire department raised "Taskforce Alpha" which meant that all available firetrucks in neighboring cities are needed to help in the firefighting operation.
Fire departments from Mandaue City, Talisay City, and Minglanilla responded to the fire alarm. Personnel from the Apas Emergency Response Team (AERT) also responded to the fire.
Cebu City Fire Marshall William Tacaldo said the fire started in the house of a certain Francis Tagalog. Luckily, no one was killed or injured in the incident.
As of this posting, the fire department has already declared the fire under control.
However, fire investigators are yet to determine what caused the fire as well as the extent of the damages.
Bulacao village chief Rodrigo Abellana said approximately 20 families were affected by the fire which were mostly made of light materials.
He also said that the Bulacao Community Gym will be available as temporary shelter for the affected families. (Sunnex)
