CEBU CITY -- At least 25 houses were razed when a fire hit Sitio Sambag 2 in Barangay Guadalupe Cebu City Friday afternoon, a radio report said.
In an interview over radio dyAB, Fire Investigator Jose (last name not immediately available) said they received the fire alarm around 2:25 p.m.
As of this posting, firefighters were able to put out the fire. However, they said they had difficulty getting their equipment to the affected houses blaming the narrow paths in the area.
The fire investigator said the damage to properties was estimated at P200,000.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Two persons were also reported to have sustained minor injuries but were already rushed to the hospital.
Village officials said the affected families will temporarily be housed in the nearby sports complex.
Representative Tomas Osmeña said he will give cash assistance to the affected families from his personal money.
He said that those affected will be given P1,000 each, P10,000 for each house owner, and P1,000 to P5,000 for those renting.
Social workers are now accounting the affected families for the necessary assistance. (Sunnex)
