THE Commission on Election (Comelec) has released a directive limiting political advertisement on social networking sites.

This aside from the poll body's stricter rule on aggregated airtime limits implemented for political ads on radio and television.

Comelec only allows a candidate 120 minutes for television ads and 180 minutes for radio ads.

According to Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez, they will only allow three online advertisements per week for each candidate which will appear on only one website.

The poll body admits it is hard to monitor all online ads since even local candidates also have different propaganda gimmicks.

However, the Comelec is confident that volunteers from citizens’ arm can help them monitor those who violate the rule. (Sunnex)
