Canadian embassy sends sympathies to sea mishap victims-A A +A

CANADIAN ambassador to the Philippines Christopher Thornley sent his deep concern and condolences to the families of the victims of the M/V Saint Thomas Aquinas after it collided with cargo ship Sulpicio Expresss 7 on Friday night.
The collision happened two kilometers off the coast of Talisay City in Cebu, south of Manila.
"Our thoughts go out to all of those affected by the ferry accident, and we would like to convey our support and appreciation to the emergency services workers and rescuers searching for the missing and injured," Thornley said in a statement sent by the Canadian Embassy in Manila.
The M/V Thomas Aquinas was carrying 831 passengers on board when it collided with the cargo ship, Transporatation Secretary Jun Abaya said Saturday in a press briefing.
The accident has left 39 dead and more than 80 others missing as of this posting Sunday, said the Philippine Coast Guard and the Office of Civil Defense-Central Visayas. (CVB/Sunnex)
