Storm-intensified monsoon rain to persist until Friday-A A +A

MANILA -- As Tropical Storm Maring (Trami) pulls moisture from the Southwest Monsoon, Metro Manila and portions of Luzon and Western Visayas shall expect rainy weather to continue in the coming days.
In the 5:00 p.m. forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Tropical Storm Maring was reportedly seen at 540 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It packs maximum sustained winds of 95 kph, with gustiness of up to 120 kph.
Maring accelerated and forecast to move Northwest at 19 kph.
The Southwest Monsoon still affects Luzon and Visayas bringing rain to Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon, and Benguet. The monsoon rain may trigger flashfloods and landslides, Pagasa said.
Visayas and the rest of Luzon shall have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms, the weather agency said.
Meanwhile, Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain or thunderstorms.
Pagasa also said that moderate to strong winds blow from the Southwest will prevail all over the country and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
