DOST scholarship application extended-A A +A

THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will accept applications for the 2014 DOST-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Scholarship until August 28, Wednesday.
DOST-SEI Director Filma Brawner said in a statement that they extended the application period "due to the suspension of classes caused by the heavy rainfall and flooding in Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon." The application period was supposed to end Friday, August 23.
The undergraduate scholarship exam is set on September 22 nationwide.
The scholarship program aims to invite talented and deserving students to pursue a career in priority science and technology fields, including engineering and the applied sciences. The program aims to produce and develop professionals that will man the science and technology and research and development efforts in the Philippines.
This year, 3,579 high school students qualified for the DOST-SEI scholarship program, 7.1 percent higher than 3,359 in 2012. (Sunnex)
