A 44-YEAR-OLD farmer was found dead by his relative near a river Thursday afternoon at Sitio Morga, Barangay Sudlon 1, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Hermogenes Cabigas Nadera, married, and a resident of Barangay Sudlon 1.
Police report said that the victim’s body was discovered lying along the pathway near the river of Sitio Morga by his relative Fermin Rosaldo Dabuco, who was walking on his way home that time.
Dabuco immediately reported what he saw to barangay tanod (village watchman) Emerito Rabago, the nephew of the victim.
Police officers found gunshot wounds on Nadera’s head, chest and right side of his body.
Felipe Nadera and Renato Nadera, both brothers of the victim, accused Cresencio Borres Nadera Jr., alias “Junjun,” their 21-year-old cousin who is an ex-convict, as the person behind the killing.
The brothers told the police that the victim was very vocal in giving Junjun some advices over his wrongdoings, but the latter got angry and threatened to kill the victim.
Police said they are looking into this as motive of the crime.
Responding policemen found a 50-centimeter long bolo near the victim’s body but did not find any empty shells in the crime scene.
The victim’s cadaver was brought to Surelife Funeral Services for autopsy, while the Cebu City Police Office is conducting a pursuit operation against the suspect, who is no longer in the area after the incident. (Jerson B. Rufin, PIT intern/Sunnex)
