Low pressure area nears extreme northern Luzon-A A +A
Friday, August 30, 2013
RAIN is expected over parts of Northern Luzon and Mindanao even as a low pressure area (LPA) moved closer to Extreme Northern Luzon early Friday.
As of 4 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was estimated at 1,050 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, even as the Southwest Monsoon is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon.
However, Pagasa said its models show the LPA is not likely to intensify into a cyclone in the next 24 hours.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said Batanes and Caraga "will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms."
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have "partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms." (JK/Sunnex)
