MALACANANG condemned Saturday the killing of a radioman in Iligan City.
In an interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that the Aquino administration is not tolerating incidents like this.
"The government is not tolerating this kind of incident, especially if we could determine that this was media-related...and we are condemning this incident," she said.
Fernando Solijon, 48, was shot dead in the coastal village of Buru-un in Iligan City Thursday night.
The radio commentator of dxLS, Love Radio FM was shot several times when he was about to board his car after drinking with his colleagues in a friend's house.
Valte said that Malacanang will be coordinating with the Philippine National Police to get more details on the case and to ensure that there will be more progress in the investigation.
According to the National Union of Journalists in the Philippines, Solijon would be the 159th journalist killed in the country since 1986 if his killing is proven to be work-related. (SDR/Sunnex)
