Tuesday, September 3, 2013
POLICE arrested Monday night two siblings who mauled and stabbed a siomai vendor at P. Lopez St., Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City, after a heated argument.
The suspects, who are also siomai vendors, were identified as Teddy Caballes, 28, single, and his brother, Jessie Caballes, both residents of Sitio All Season, Barangay Basak Pardo in Cebu City.
They figured in a heated argument with Melvin Balogan, 30, single, and a resident of Sitio Kawit, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
Police investigation revealed that Balogan was selling siomai at P. Lopez St. when the suspects, who were also selling siomai, positioned themselves in an area, blocking the victim from his customers.
Seeing what his fellow vendors did, Balogan admonished the brothers, resulting in the argument. The siblings left the place, but came back later with a knife.
They confronted the victim, resulting in a fistfight and stabbing of Balogan.
Balogan sustained stab wounds in the different parts of his body.
Police officers 1 Marlon Acabado and Benjie Tanilon responded to the incident and arrested the brothers.
The policemen recovered from the crime scene a blooded five-inch knife without a handle.
The two suspects were temporarily detained at Carbon Police Station 5 while appropriate charges have been filed against them.
Balogan was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center for immediate medical treatment. (Jerson B. Rufin, PIT intern/Sunnex)
