Senate approves Office of the President's budget in 10 mins-A A +A
Tuesday, September 3, 2013
WITHIN just 10 minutes, the Senate's finance committee on Tuesday approved the P2.822-billion budget of the Office of the President for 2014.
Senate finance committee chairman Francis Escudero said the quick approval was a "courtesy" to the Office of the President.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., who had been dragged into a multi-billion pork barrel fund mess, was not questioned during the hearing about the President's Social Fund.
President Benigno Aquino III's critics had branded the PSF as a presidential pork fund due to its "discretionary" nature.
Ochoa said that of the P2.822-billion budget, P1.9 billion would go to maintenance and other operating expenses, P641 million to personnel services, and P183 million to capital outlay. (JK/Sunnex)
