VMMC: Arroyo in 'stable condition'-A A +A
Tuesday, September 3, 2013
FORMER President and current Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Pampanga, 2nd district) is in stable condition, the director of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) said Tuesday.
"Overall, her condition is stable," VMMC director Nona Legaspi said during the budget hearing of the Department of National Defense (DND) before the House committee on appropriations. The VMMC is under the DND.
Arroyo has been under hospital arrest at the VMMC since October last year for plunder charges against her stemming from alleged misuse of intelligence funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Legaspi said Arroyo undergoes physical therapy twice a week for her spine.
Arroyo had undergone three cervical spine surgeries before she was detained at the military hospital.
Earlier this month, Arroyo's camp sought house arrest for the Pampanga lawmaker, even submitting medical certificates of photos showing her deteriorating health.
