Aquino discusses ‘sensitive matters’ with Cabinet members-A A +A
Wednesday, September 4, 2013
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III held Wednesday an executive session among the Cabinet officials amid the brewing issue on pork barrel.
"Sensitive matters" were discussed during the almost five-hour meeting in Malacanang, said Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.
"The President decided to hold the Cabinet executive session because there are matters—sensitive matters discussed. So we cannot say anything beyond that," he told reporters.
All the Cabinet officials were present in the meeting except for Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II who was on an out of town trip.
The Aquino administration is now being hounded by strong calls to abolish the pork barrel, not only of the lawmakers, but also of the President's own pork.
Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind in the P10-billion pork barrel scam and who surrendered to Aquino last week, is now detained in Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Napoles allegedly has the information as to who among the lawmakers, whether administration allies or from the opposition, pocketed the multi-billion peso priority development assistance fund during the past years using the bogus non-government organizations, which she allegedly formed. (SDR/Sunnex)
