Perjury raps vs scam whistleblowers to be resolved soon-A A +A
Wednesday, September 4, 2013
PERJURY complaints filed by Janet Napoles against pork barrel scam whistleblowers and their relatives will soon be resolved by The Manila Prosecutor's Office if the businesswoman will not submit her reply to the arguments raised by the respondents.
Napoles has until 10 a.m. of September 13 to file her reply-affidavit, said Assistant City Prosecutor Philger Noel Inovejas in a resolution on Wednesday.
Inovejas said Napoles' response is encouraged to help him arrive at a "fair and judicious resolution of the case."
The case stemmed from Napoles and her brother Reynald Lim allegedly kept whistleblower Benhur Luy against his will for three months because of his knowledge of the scam.
Napoles is currently detained at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna because of this accusation.
Wearing a bulletproof vest and escorted by armed men from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Luy went to the hearing and submitted his counter-affidavit.
Also charged with the same crime were Luy's parents Arturo and Gertrudes, who waived their right to refute the complaint, and siblings Arthur and Anabelle and Merlina Suñas, Napoles’ project coordinator in trading firm JLN Corp.
The hearing was initially set on August 28 but Luy snubbed it. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
