ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Gunmen believed to be members of kidnap-for-ransom group (KFRG) have seized two teaching staff of a non-government organization (NGO) in Basilan province, the police said Thursday.
Abducted were Frederick Banot and Cherden Masong, both teaching staff of the Charity Children Foundation Inc. (CCFI), said Basilan Police Director Mario Dapillosa.
The CCFI is an extension service of the Basilan prelature focusing on literacy program for the Badjaos in Basilan
Dapillosa said the gunmen seized the victims from their staff house around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sitio Wharf Pangasaan in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan.
The victims, he added, were forced to board on two motorized bancas locally known as "jungkungs" that sped to the high seas.
He said policemen, in coordination with the military, were deployed to track the whereabouts of the victims. (Sunnex)
