ITCZ affects Palawan and Visayas, expect rain or thunderstorms-A A +A
Thursday, September 5, 2013
LOOKS like most parts of the country should expect drizzle within the day as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affects Palawan and Visayas.
In meteorology, the trade winds meet at the ITCZ where there is lower air pressure, allowing clouds to form and bring rain or thunderstorms.
In its 5 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila shall expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Pagasa issued a Thunderstorm Warning at past 7 a.m. over Metro Manila.

Pagasa also said, "Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the southwest to southeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate."
The state weather bureau also said, there is no weather disturbance in the Philippine area of responsibility at this time.(SFP/JK/Sunnex)
