Pagasa: Rain over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao-A A +A
Friday, September 6, 2013
It will be a rainy over Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao as they are currently affected by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said Friday.
ITCZ is where the trade winds meet, in meteorological terms. Since there is lower air pressure at the ITCZ, the conditions are more favorable to form clouds that bring rain or thunderstorms.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, in its 5 a.m. bulletin, said isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
It noted the ITCZ is presently across Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao.
Because of this, it said Palawan, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Caraga and Davao may expect "cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms."
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have "partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it added. (JK/Sunnex)
